Flying Gerbils

The Flying Gerbils are quite remarkable. Their aerobatic abilities, make them stand out. They spend most of their daytime sleeping and then come alive with acrobatics during late evenings and early mornings.

They can be trained to perform synchronized aerobatics. A team of flying gerbils can put on quite a show. The Flying Gerbil can be easily trained and will perform for peanuts, chestnuts or acorns. There are many teams of Flying Gerbils around the world that have been trained to perform in groups, these can be a spectacular site of synchronised aerobatics. With their great abilities they can be used for tasks other than aerobatic displays and make very skilful pickpockets.


Identification
The flying gerbil resembles a normal gerbil in size and appearance except for the small flaps under its front legs that enable its aerobatic capabilities.

Habits
Active during the late evenings and early mornings, performing acrobatics. Mostly sleeping during the daytime.

Voice
The flying gerbil has a small, squeaky voice.

Habitat
Lives high up in the forest canopy. Constructs small twig-and-leaf homes on branches against the tree trunk.

Food
Eats nuts from various trees, with horse chestnuts as a favourite.

Breeding
Breeds while performing spectacular aerobatics. Females typically have one or two babies at a time.

Movements and Migrations
Leaves home upon reaching maturity to set up its own next. They will remain in the new nest for life unless joining a travelling aerobatic team.
